Welcome to my world, where the art of wine and cheese meets the joy of creating unforgettable experiences. My name is Hannelore Vandenbergh, I am a passionate sommelier and culinary enthusiast based in Antwerp, Belgium. I bring together my love for fine wines, exquisite cheeses and creating memorable moments through Onderonsje. A unique tasting series designed to elevate the way people appreciate Belgian gastronomy. My goal is to create a space where people can connect, learn and most importantly, indulge in the pleasures of good company and exceptional products.

Vision

The idea behind Onderonsje is simple but meaningful: to bring people together to discover, taste and learn about the finest Belgian cheeses and wines.

The meaning behind "Onderonsje" or "Tête-à-tête" translates to a cozy gathering and is the foundation of everything I do. I want every guest who attends my bar to feel like they're joining friends around a table.

With Onderonsje, I combine my background in wine service and my love for Belgian culinary traditions to curate tastings that not only educate but also bring people closer to the art of tasting. I believe that great food is not just about eating. It's about creating connections, sharing experiences and celebrating the richness of life.

Each tasting is designed to be both educational and intimate, where participants not only learn about the history, craftsmanship and pairing techniques of Belgian cheese and wine but also enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the ideal environment to discover new flavours, deepen your knowledge and make lasting memories.

My Journey

I always had a deep love for Belgian culinary traditions. My professional journey started early in life with my first job in retail and has evolved through various leadership and service-oriented roles. Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience in the hospitality industry, working at renowned establishments.

As a trained sommelier, I have the privilege of guiding guests through the rich world of (Belgian) wines.

After experiencing and learning about the history from our local produce, I decided to start Onderonsje, a space dedicated to showcasing the richness of Belgium’s gastronomic heritage.
 

I am committed to continuous learning, which is why I have pursued further education in wine, food and hospitality. My qualifications include:

  • WSET 2 & 3 (Winewise)

  • Cheesemaster (by Ann Keymeulen)

  • Horeca Forma (Certificates)

    • Including courses on Haccp, Cocktails, Mocktails, World of Cheese, ...

From learning the complexities of different cheeses to exploring the unique terroir of Belgian wines, every aspect is carefully tailored to give you the most authentic and enjoyable experience possible. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced enthusiast, my goal is to help you explore new combinations and leave with a greater appreciation for the craftsmanship behind each product.

I offer a variety of tastings that you can book on my website. I also offer personalized experiences for private groups, making it easy for you to bring your friends, family, or colleagues together for a memorable event.
